The concept of courage is discussed strongly in the title of the book entitled “The Unlikely Team” by Stacey McAlister, in which the protagonist is a farm dog, Buddy, who was forced to deal with the unknown. He finds himself stuck in a strange forest and encounters a wolf and a crow, the two creatures he has been trained to be afraid of. Rather than running, Buddy has a chance to realize how to counter his fears and accept the unknown, and this is where the theme of bravery and fearlessness appears, as one should not be fearless, but the willingness to take the risk.

This anxiety, which Buddy experienced at the start of the story, quickly turns into determination when he realizes that his new friends can help him get home. The narration demonstrates that fear can be a hindrance, yet it can also make a person develop. The struggles on the path of the three, like evading hunters and working together to eliminate the danger, manifest themselves as real life when the possibility of being something that was in our path is a reality.

The audacity of Buddy, Luka, and Cora make the readers consider what they are afraid of and the way to escape it. The necessity to use friendships and support systems is essential whenever one is in the state of doubt as the characters in the book. Combining their power together, we learn that we are normally stronger together than individually.

The message which may be reinforced in the “The Unlikely Team” by Stacey McAlister is that the ability to risk and step out of our comfort zone so that we can be changed as people. When we face fears, we learn to be resilient and courageous in an attempt to withstand any future challenge. And, in fact, any adventure begins when we are capable of making a choice to face our fears, and that is what the adventure Buddy goes through is.
